Originally released on the X-box live service this rather neat, very good game has now been released for the PC via the Steam download service As in the original 360 version Madballs in Babo: Invasion has good controls, a great sense of humour to the whole thing and superb single player and multiplayer modes. Infact if you only ever play this as a single player experience you really are completely missing a lot of the fun that is found within the title. The PC version is so identical to the 360 version that unless you are really careful you may be forgiven for not noticing the little tweaks that have been made. In the game you basically you control a ball that is armed to the teeth with deadly weapons. Although at first the weapons at your disposal are limited which means you have to play through the single player game to unlock more and get them at your disposal in the multiplayer game. It has to be said that the multiplayer version is what will keep drawing you back to the game, providing you can find someone online to pay against/with. The modes include all the usual with Invasion probably being the most interesting. Here each player picks a piece of map and places it where they wish making the overall map when it is completed and the battle commences to be completely random and interesting. Missing from the 360 version is the Avatar Attack mode but this has been replaced by an excellent base attack mode. Graphically on the 360 this was an absolutely gorgeous game with highly detailed environments and excellent graphical effects. On the PC of course it is dependent on the age and configuration of your system. However providing the machine you have can cope with all the settings then the animation is still fantastic and providing you have a good internet connection (Speed wise) there is no apparent lag whatsoever. Sound wise the game is worth playing just to hear the sound effects used for the death of the various balls. The music found within the game is ok but not brilliant and is infact possibly the only weak element of the game. Overall on the pc this is still an amazing game and one that if you haven’t already got it on your 360 then you definitely should invest in downloading on the PC.
I seriously hope that enough people do download it and continue to play it because the single player version although fun and robust lacks the real fun that is found in multiplayer mode. Enjoy. |
