If imitation is the biggest form of flattery then the makers of the Build a lot games must be very flattered because to be honest this title borrows so much from that game. Basically it is a property tycoon game which presents you with a variety of different scenarios for you to complete whilst at the same time increasing the value of your property to be successful. In the game’s career mode there are 40 different levels of various different length and difficulty. The criteria to complete each level can vary from building a certain type of building to earning a certain amount in your bank account. For each scenario you are also given a time limit to achieve this. However, as a bit of a cop out, you do not fail the scenario if it takes you longer you just fail to get recognition rewards and an expert status. The game also includes various trophies for achieving certain aims. This includes earning your first million through the property game. The game is quite pleasant both in terms of graphics and the soundtrack. The menu bars etc are very easy to read and it will not take you long to master what you have to do in order to achieve each aim. Overall please do not buy this game if you are expecting it to be the depth of something such as Sim City or the soon to be released Cities XL. It is a casual game set around the property market. Although there are 40 different levels with various different objectives, overall there is a distinct lack of variety. It is hard (on later levels) and there will be times when you realise half way through a level that you have done everything completely wrong but thankfully there is a re-set button for this. It is a fun game and one you will play when you either haven’t got the time to play something a little more complicated or you haven’t got the patient. However, like most casual games the game is horrendously addictive and you will find yourself spending more time on it then you originally planned.
